The Hill is alive with the sound of music
Capitol Steps
Review by Ross Anthony

What a pleasure! Satire, music, a good ol' time. Sometimes the only sane response to political charades is an evening with a musical comedy review chockfull of irreverent mockery of our leaders. Always funny, surprisingly edgy, and very stunningly melodious. Some of these people can really sing. Mike Tilford tied the audience in knots with his good humor, and then rocked the house with a singing voice worthy of the Rat Pack.

The show is a string of musical skits ranging from a resounding chorus of "Obama Mia" to CIA agents as Pips, to our president and secretary of State letting bygones be bygones whilest singing the sweet liberal duet "Ebony and Ovaries." There certainly were a few bits that fell short - the Blagojevich spot, for one. But somehow even the duds couldn't slow the stampeding momentum and bang of entertainment the Steps have to offer.

I was always smiling, often laughing. The "We Arrrrr the World" bit with Bob Dylan had me in tears and the rest of the audience doubling over. If it comes to your town, go to this show!
