Monterey Highlands Book Project 2010

Student Writing Prompts & Submissions!

Students are to use one or more of the following prompts as springboards into their tangenting thoughts. Responses may be in any form or style: poetry, prose, essay, etc. Creativity is not just welcomed, but encouraged. The more unique, the better. That said, responses may (and should be) revised by students several times before submitting. Each final submission must be under 250 words.
Teachers may help in brainstorming and editing, but work should be that of the student. Teachers should encourage students to be honest, sincere, and embrace the writing process as an opportunity to express themselves.

Student Prompts:
Why learn to write well?
Why learn at all?
How do you learn best?
Have you ever been inspired by a teacher or an event at school? How?

When choosing your top 5, don't worry about grammar or spelling, instead look for sincerity, originality, elegance of expression, a spark of the human spirit, or simply something that moves you emotionally.
