The Cat's Meow
Puss in Boots
Review by Ross Anthony

Despite trepidation, this cat is cool! Don't let curiosity kill you, just go see it! "Puss in Boots" is an awkward name for an animated character. And a cat/musketeer is a hard sell. But to my surprise, the folks at Dreamworks have successfully put together a fine feline yarn that any cool cat would happily curl up to.

It's a fun story with action and a great sense of humor. I laughed a lot. And the introduction to Puss's partner in crime has great cinematic impact befitting of any respectable action scene. KSP is sleek, her design (reminiscent of How to Train your Dragon) greatly impresses audiences -- and other cats. Beautiful facial expressions dominate that non-verbal first meet.

Negatives? Barely any. To knit-pick, I felt the escalating action approaching the third act was a tad noisy for me. But, that's it. A solid A. Nicely animated, tight 3-D, and a wonderful sense that everyone who worked on the picture had a great deal of fun.
