A Fishy Story
Jonah a VeggieTales Movie
Review by Ross Anthony

Smart, colorful, (dare I say) tasteful computer animation tells the Old Testament tale of Jonah and the Whale. Unlike DreamWorks' "Prince of Egypt," this "VeggieTale" feels preachy, something that could be played to Sunday school students or Jewish children without upsetting parents.

Determined to be fun, and bouncy, with energetic musicals, the humor didn't quite engage this adult (perhaps, young children will appreciate it better than I.)

The messages of compassion and mercy are clearly, squarely and specifically expounded. Though a bit too pronounced (and in cheesy accents) here, I'm still glad to see these themes put to film.
