Fun, educational, chilly.
Chicago's a beautiful city for buildings whether you're strolling along on your own two feet or floating down the Chicago River. So, as long as the weather cooperates, you can't lose.
The three in our group all had a great time. The one out-of-towner excitedly proclaimed the experience "Fascinating." Despite the chilly North wind that picked up around various bends, we all had a great time. (Dress in layers!)
Our tour guide integrated some basic architecture 101 design facts with a great sense of humor. His talk was non-stop, but non-boring. He, and the beautiful buildings and cityscape kept use 100% engaged. I greatly appreciated the welcoming balance of education and entertainment. Further, I loved learning the information about the river itself.
The price tag is a little hefty at $30+ per adult, but your buck will find bang. Start the tour near Navy Pier (well worth visiting). But don't miss the beautiful giant mirror bean at Millennium Park. And, of course, the museums, and get up to the top of the John Hancock if you can swing it!
