Mother Goosed
The Wild Robot
Review by Ross Anthony

The “Wild” in the title refers to actual wilderness. No humans were harmed in the animating of this feature, though several cartoon animals lost their fictional lives. Wild Robot does not shy away from depicting the predator-eat-pray world of nature, in fact, this “circle of life” is portrayed in as humorous a way as probably possible.

For a film that features a robot and a bunch of wild animals instead of humans, a great deal of humanity emanates from the screen. It’s a warm and caring film with a strong appreciate for mothers. Consider taking your mother.

I saw it in a real theater with real families who actually applauded upon its conclusion. You know the applause is sincere when there’s no one present to receive it. As I was leaving, a small child in the family behind me said, “We can watch this movie everyday, right?”
