I bought the DVD based on one of the best loglines ever: "Aliens come to Earth to kill off mankind, then hear music and change their minds." And just in case you're still not sure, the cover shot unashamedly depicting a banjo-picking alien astronaut makes a solid clincher.
That said, I expected a fun, albeit very hokey, quite likely DIY-looking indie production. To my happy surprise, the film is 90% less hokey than anticipated, and the production value is 90% higher!
Warm and Fuzzy in tone, my girlfriend and I giggled and tapped our feet through this fun musical production. Silly storyline? You bet! Authentic musicians? Yep. The lead actor not only wrote the stuff and plays it for you on screen, but the two musician carry the film in the acting department as well! PS: You don't have to be a folk lover to love this film -- but I'm guessin', they'll be pretty gaga over it.
Great fun to see Dee Snider in there.
