Screens
Searching
Review by Ross Anthony

Strong Acting, nice editing, but more than that, this film sports a very creative way to tell a story. It utilizes screens: Laptops, phones, security cams at times, Apple's FaceTime, Text messages. No movie cameras - all screens. The curious creative in me loved this - what a fresh innovative way to storytell that also completely suits the tale. Sadly, at some point, it occurred to me that I'd been subjected to screens all day in my regular life, so maybe my entertainment shouldn't remind me. Still, I was hooked and happy to play along.

That said, while the story itself started out aptly emotionally affecting - after perhaps the first third, tension and suspense take it over. And while there are a lot of effective possible paths to conclusion - as to hopefully surprise you at the end, it's not all that unpredictable. This, burdened heavily by the lack of an emotional ending, unfortunately dampens what could have been a strong contender.
