Hard-hitting action packed into extended carefully choreographed sequences and a seriously mind-scrambling plot. Reminiscent of Nolan’s early film MOMENTO, TENET will have your brain working overtime to keep up with the main character who himself is doing all he can to figure out the nefarious scheme terrible enough to make humankind a thing of the past.
Meticulous scripting, directing, and action sequences, with high quality, heart-pumping sound design. I’m so glad I enjoyed this in an actual theatre with the rocking bass shaking the “relax” out of my theatre recliner.
That said, the acting is inconsistent. Some performances feel flat, while others flow stronger, still others are sweetly nuanced. Additionally, in patches, the dialogue falls below what I’d expect from Nolan.
I much prefer a film to compel and confuse, than to insult my intelligence. So, even though I may have fallen behind academically, I enjoyed the brain stretch and the action, and how the puzzle pieces (at least some) eventually click into place.
However, perhaps a more economical duration might have added to the enjoyment.
