Sparkling dialogue. Great sense of humor. Splendid timing. What it lacks in complexity (the plot's so simple, it feels like a one act), the play delivers in entertainment.
A magazine gets tossed across the room; that's the extent of the action. This play is entirely dialogue driven. All three of the three characters have an overlapping gift for quick whit, additionally, their sense of verbiage could be more distinct. Still, all three are charming. You'll be engaged completely. Further, pause and interruptions are directed perfectly. The three interact fluidly.
Am I biased with the knowledge of the playwright? Or did Val Lauren actually display a few classic James Caan mannerisms? No matter, the play works! (Btw, just so you know, Scott Caan is not in the cast.)
Though the topic is a heavy one, the play is light. It's a comedy in passages segued by upbeat pop-rock music. I highly recommend it. Go see it with your lover, your therapist, or both.
