Has it been 15 years since the animation version first hit the screen? Absolutely loved that version, and the 3D really helped get the flying scenes off the ground.
That said, in the new version, filmmakers do a marvelous job of engaging us in flight as well - even in CGI+Live Action, and even in 2D.
I know the story, but I still loved watching it unfold all over again. Filmmakers keep Toothless true to the original and the story doesn't stray much either.
A lovingly written and realized story. If you haven't already enjoyed them, I recommend the original and its two animated sequels as well. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll soar up in the clouds, and come back down to Earth with a bit more fire in your belly.
